- While the display is beautiful, it is going to take some time for both apps and the web as a whole to transition to Retina quality images and graphics.
- The fact both the RAM and the SSD are soldered to the Motherboard. A Macbook Pro needs to allow an owner to at least replace the RAM. I hope that in future products they open it back up.

My Decision to Buy the Old Style MacBook Pro over the Retina MBP
1. Absolutely Fair. Especially if you are waiting for a future upgradeable model
2. SSD isn't soldered, but it will need a special drive that nobody manufactures yet. (OWC is working on it though I believe) Non-upgradeable ram is a bummer, but thankfully the 16GB upgrade is only $200. It could be a lot worse. 8GB is plenty for today's usage and 16GB is definitely enough for future usage.
There is a reason they keep selling the traditional Macbook Pro and those are valid points to want to buy one.

I agree completely. I bought the Retina model the first day, only to take it back and exchange it for the non-retina model the next. I am much happier with my decision to replace the retina model. Yes, the screen was great for the programs that supported it, but it was lacking (to say the least) on all of the others. I want something I can upgrade later down the road as well. And while yes, the RAM is only a $200 increase, the 256gig HD is not big enough in my opinion, and paying $3000 for the upgrade isn't logical in my mind.
