Discussion about
Msi Wind Netbook what do you think!
I just purchased an MSI Wind. I have yet to receive it. To all current users of this netbook - what do you think about it? how does it work? what are some good accessories for it? and has anyone hackintoshed it? thanks
I love it. I am dual booting Mac Os X 10.5.7 and Windows 7. for help and hacks check out the forums on www.msiwind.net they have pretty much everything you ever need to know.
Again I LOOOOVE it.
I have also found myself slowly using windows 7 more and more than os x.....look out apple!

It's become my number 1 machine for day to day tasks. I use it for work, college, and traveling. So, basically at this point I only use my desktop for gaming and photo/video editing.
It's a solid machine, the stats aren't any different than most of the netbooks out there. However, MSI does allow overclocking in it's newer bios versions and it's fairly good for running multiple operating systems. You can hackintosh it fairly easily, but I found no reason to with Win7.

I've had my Wind for a couple months now and I absolutely love it! I run Win7 on it as well and have upgraded it to 2GB of ram. If you want another 1GB stick to throw in there get this:

Works great! You're going to love it!

I had mine JUST outside the warranty when the screen went blank on me. It still works with an external monitor, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of this machine? Worst $400 i ever spent at newegg
Well I've got my wind and I am loving it so far the keyboard is a little bit annoying and I accidentally click the touch pad all the time while typing. On the positive side it looks great and has handled everything I have thrown at it in stride. I definitely recommend this great little netbook.
See this thread about disabling the touch to click.

I actually have a U100-641US, but there all just variations on the same theme. I really love my Wind - I was this *holds up fingers* close to getting a U120 until I found out it was hardware limited to 1GB of RAM. Shame.
Dual booting Ubuntu NBR 9.04 (recommend you try this - everything works OOTB) and Win 7. I am surprised at myself for how often I choose to go with the W7. I planned on "Hackintoshing", but I really don't see the need.
I eventually plan on upgrading to a 6-cell and installing a Bluetooth module.
My only complaint is that it is a FINGERPRINT MAGNET! (black model) well w/e

Hackintoshing works great especially when you use the MSIWINDOSX86. I've mostly used it for schoolwork but it slowly became my main machine. The stress-test was when I had to build a virtual machine network and the poor thing had to run a Windows 2003 Server with 2 XP clients all at the same time on top of OSX... Gotta' love the little bugger...
I absolutely adore my little Windy.
She has the best keyboard of all the netbooks i've been in contact with (except maybe the hp2133 / 2140's).
The mousepad is a little cramped, so get used to doing keyboard shortcuts. And how you do scroll-up on it is just plain weird (you have to put your finger on a little space on the mousepad designated for scrolling and keep it there).
The battery life can be a pain, but after using it for about six months in college it hasn't failed me more than once or twice (with conservative powerusage of course). And because of the small shape i can even carry her around for anatomy classes to take notes on, a feat which is not easily accomplished, even with pen and paper.
The low weight means i never have to remove her from my backpack, so i wont forget her when i'm in a hurry.
All in all i'd say that except for the battery life i couldn't wish for a more perfect netbook.

Using mine with Windows 7, and 2 gig of ram. It runs great, and I love the size. its the machine I take on all trips.
My only problem is that when i'm typing, the cursor sometimes jumps back to the middle of sentence, and i wind up typing over my previous text. Cant figure this out, and it happens in any program. (it just happened now).
Is anyone else having this issue?
thanks,
Win

Anyone know what happened to msiwind.net? There was tons of useful info there and it'd be shame for it all to be lost.
