Sounds like tech companies are doing fairly well lately!
For Microsoft, looks like Xbox has been the key to their continuing success. For Apple, it's been the iPhone and iPad. Have you bought any gear from these companies recently?

I think there's always been room for both companies to do well. It's not a zero sum game when these companies diversify like this.
Other than buying Office from a friend who worked for MS, the only money I give them is for my Zune subscription :) I've never given Apple any money myself :)

Yeah, I have an Xbox (it's 2 years old at this point) but I let my Xbox Live subscription lapse. Other than that, I haven't bought any Microsoft hardware or software.
Apple stuff? No hardware in the last quarter for me! I've bought mostly software from them and apps they distribute through the App Store. Apple allegedly doesn't much money from the App Store (they've previously said the 30% cut was mostly for hosting, bandwidth, and that sort of thing) -- but who knows whether or not that's true.
