Loving This Camera
I'm a professional wedding photographer and I use this camera for all of my shoots. It's absolutely fantastic. My first professional digital cam was a Fuji S3. It served it's purpose, but the D300 is so far beyond the quality and capabilities of the Fuji, it's not even worth comparing.
The sensor is amazing, the color saturation, the customizable menu options...on and on. Don't even get me started on the display. Best EVER. This is a great all purpose camera for the high-end pro-sumer as well as the professional. The price is right and in the hands of someone who knows how to use it manually, the results are simply outstanding.
L O V E IT!
The D3x is good also for the professional lot. My father has one. But for getting down to some serious wedding photography, 8 to 12 hour days, it's a bit overblown for the task at hand. It's obviously more technically capable, but it's too much for the job. Portraits, landscape, various stock photo work etc....the D3x is perfect. Otherwise, the D300 is a perfect camera.
