My battery failed after 18 months. Dell wants $185 to replace. 12 month warranty on batteries. This is a fairly widespread problem (judging by Dell's support forums), that Dell refuses to acknowledge.
This complaint is regarding the battery only. The laptop is a very fine piece of equipment, and has worked flawlessly. Came with Vista, but that's another subject...

Mine failed after 8 months, but I had warranty. After that I haven't had more issues. So if you buy a laptop with dell, extend your warranty. Mine has expired
