Can anyone find any other corroboration to this? It would be BIG!

Sky News reported that the Fab Four are finally coming to iTunes, attributing the news to John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono

I see no reason to get excited about it. I like Beatles music but I refuse to accept that one band makes or breaks the service of the largest online music store.

One just have to accept that having the entire catalog in iTunes is a big breakthrough: a WIN for the digital music industry

Apple lowered the prices this morning on existing iPod models .... does that mean that the new models that we presume will be announced today will be at the older price point?

I think you are right. Typically they introduce higher capacity models at previous price points.

Right you are... Usually what they do is kill the lower end/capacity model and adjust the prices so the high capacity (644gb?) will be at 399

That all said, all the reports were that Apple was going to respond to M$'s aggressive Zune HD pricing by matching it, which they've done with todays price drop.

That doesn't help the new models compete however.

My suspicion is that the rumoured delays associated with the new camera components will result in a delay of the new iPod models, allowing Apple time to get rid of the current inventory first, then release the new models at the reduced price point.

I'm just worried they are going to double the size on the iphones as well... mine arrived yesterday and it would stink for there to be a bigger for the same price the next day. :(

They never do that, iPod is always ahead of the curve when it comes to storage, because the extra slot for memory.

I'm personally hoping for a big update to Apple TV

- 3.0 Software Update with AppleTV SDK and App Store
- 250GB and 500GB version of current AppleTV (with 1080p playback)
- Apple TV Nano - 8GB NAND Flash storage (to hold the app's) - ideal for streaming.

That'd be awesome and would have been a definite go for me to buy an AppleTV, but I bought a 360 last month and have been streaming content from my Ubuntu desktop without a hitch.

I would not mind seeing a mac mini media edition take over the apple tv, larger space, running a version of os x but cheaper then the current mac minis, with a hdmi out.
I doubt that will ever happen though.

I'm using a 360 to stream from my computer too, but i'm using a Mac with Rivet (cynicalpeak.com/rivet), works really well.

I would welcome an apple tv update as well. I doubt we will see it though. Everyone know we will get new iPods for sure across the board, but really all I want is a new version of itunes with some sort of app management built in. Also 64 bit would be nice.

Pictures of the cases for the iPod Nano show it with a larger screen, similar to the Zune 8/16 and both with Cameras, as these have been shown before, if not mentioned tonight - I am not sure when they will be, this will be an indication of what the Zune HD has to match whatever the announcements (Beatles iTunes and Special Edition iPod, HD support etc)

I bought a reburbished 2nd-Gen iPod touch three weeks ago (yes bad timing). I opened it, but haven't jailbroken it or even used it because of today's announcement. The question I'm asking myself: is it worth returning for the stocking fee and exchange for the new model? What would you do?

Spoiler: Steve's Ipod in the screenshots show a Camera App. It's in the top right corner of the first small app managing screenshot.

if that is an ipod, may be an iphone :P

Of course that could be likely but changing the name to an iPod seems a little weird. Guess we'll find out!

Looks like Steve did change the name of his iPhone to an iPod just to screw with everyone (he's a PUNK!).

Are those icons for the music and video shortcuts available on the iPhone though? I haven't seen a way to get them on my 3g. WTF?

A camera on Steve's iPod! I think that confirms it. And they actually replaced it with the Photos app in the big screenshot!

So far I am really liking the "It's Only Rock and Roll" announcements. Can't wait to see what upgrades the iPod Touch is getting.

Wow the zing about the DS not being as good as an ipod touch to game on? .. errr I still like having actual freaking buttons to play games with. Some genre's of games are just never going to be as good on a fully touch control scheme........

deinfinityx

Thank you, i think that was an unfair shot by apple. Yeah they have many more games but talking hours of play and ease of play the ds and psp win by a long shot. For casual games its good for real games it fails.

mikeisgo

yeah ryan got it right that MOST of the games are small/casual games.. the even more unfair shot is the 21k games vs. 3k games on a DS.. I'll take quality over volume most days.

Of course I'll eat my words if they bring out some sort of clamp on gaming pad for the ipod touch...

Also implying you have to buy games in a store, when the DSi has some downloadable mini titles and the PSP pretty much has a full on store that's growing weekly.

jonursenbach

It all really depends on the game though.

deinfinityx

I agree for casual time wasters it is ok, but i highly doubt you would be able to do a 4 hour gaming session on a really good long game without it dying. Battery is where it is at with the ds and psp.

Apple tends to forget that real gamers want BUTTONS for playing games. Just give us an accessory please!
