I think the main story is the evolution of the Apple mobile computing platform.
Look for Jobs to talk about improvements to the iPhone and iTouch that will join with the iSlate in being the preferred mobile devices of choice.
Certainly, for those without the budget for the high-end tablet, will still be able to read texts on their iTouch. If it's a medical intern on a limited budget, Wi-Fi will suffice for communication, since most hospital have wireless infrastructure.
Right now the Android platform is fractured, and the capabilities of your device depend upon what version of Android you're running and what the manufacturer added.

More than the device itself I am interested in seeing how Jobs spins why we need it. I love the idea of a slate style computer, but have yet to find one that is truly usable in the ways I want it to be. Apple and Jobs have stuck pretty well to the plan of not releasing a product isn't going to succeed. Granted it seems like anything they release could succeed despite it be good or not sometimes. As much as it pains me to admitt it though, Apple really does push the envolope fairly regularly.
What is this thing going to do that is going to make me want it anymore than the many other slate devices that I have used and have been dissapointed in? I'll tell you one thing, running the iPhone OS is not going to be that thing. After using the iPhone long enough to get bored with, what I consider to be, a simplistic and mostly boring OS if this device runs nearly the identical software I can guarantee you I will most likely not be buying it.

I have to say I am impressed with how Apple is able to keep this so quiet. Sure we've heard about the Content deals, etc. It's great marketing, to keep everyone guessing and is another reason why you have to like the way they roll out product. Like them or hate them. Let's hope it's not another HIFI and sock rollout. It's fun either way, flop or hit.
Hi everyone, I'm so excited about this, wished I could be in the crowed. Now time to hush all the rumors!!!! This is it!
Haha. This image amuses me:

Ditto. If it's a decent price it may be worth it, but I haven't seen anything worth a premium price. Not going to form too much of an opinion till i see it in someone other than steves hands though.
The home screen diossapoints me with its very iPhone UI. Apps look pretty good though.Different than either iphone or osx
Agreed. I will probably use it more for couch surfing than anything. Once again coming down to price. I'm not paying $1000 for a couch web surfing machine.
I'm pleased with just about every product apple has created except the macbook air. I'll buy the ipad waiting on the price.
Think this will make certain apps price sky rocket. I'm going to charge a lot more i I have to develop for two platforms.
So... it's a big iPod Touch. Not saying that's a bad thing, but still. How is this a big deal? Especially if the pricing is rather prohibitive.
What's revolutionary is that they didn't just slap in a desktop OS & call it a day, the reason all those tablets with win xp never caught on. When Balmer was showing off the new HP tablet, did he also release a new version of Microsoft Office, with a new UI just for a tablet?
I couldn't agree more. There must be "one more thing" coming in regards to capabilties. Because it's nothing more than a bigger screen size so far.
