like it or the idea?

those of you who "liked" the Fitbit on the product page, do you like it from personal use or do you like the idea of it? I'm really curious if this device delivers on all the claims from its website. If so it seems like a pretty valuable little gadget...

It's great, been using it for a month. Zero hesitation in recommending it to people -- in fact, I've started to become something of a Fitbit evangelist!

The Engadget review says:

"The Tracker site is free to use for anyone, even if you haven't spent the $100 to buy the gadget. Without one the only thing you really lose is that daily count of steps."

So, is it REALLY woth the money??

I am a data nerd, but 100 bucks.... ??

Unless you don't mind steering your friends to overpriced gadgets that fall apart, at least tell them about other options like Omron. It's like $30, much sturdier, comes with software that lets you keep your data local and the battery lasts a very, very long time. And when the battery dies, you just open it and put in a new one, for about $2.

These guys make it sound like Fitbit invented pedometer and without one there is nothing else.

Check out Amazon, there are hundreds of options (this 3d tracking is standard with pedometers now, fitbit is nothing special, just way overpriced and their PR seems to be getting hype from gadget sites by making it wireless). While you're there, check out the Fitbit reviews, good awful!

Did the GDGT guys even pay for theirs?

I've suddenly become the Anti-Fitbit, but this thing just screams to be dissed. Where are the critical reviews? It's flaws are obvious.

I love the idea of it, but I don't like the idea of its data being in another closed silo. They need to have it connect with some of the other health services already online like DailyBurn or Google Health. The Withings Scale did it, so should they.
