Killer Ebook reader

Now if rumors are true or at least partially true this is supposedly close to what the Barnes and Noble ebook reader will look like if it isn't the actual reader, but whats more important is the design. I for one love the dual screens even if it makes it a little bit longer but the key one the bottom screen is that it apparently runs android with the larger screen being eInk. Now this may just be the device that makes me actually get an ereader just for the added functionality that Android will offer it.

What everyone elses opinion?

I think it's ugly, schizophrenic, and confusing. This isn't like a DS with two screens, it's like strapping a TV to a book. A concept that doesn't make sense and will ultimately cost too much anyway.

I would agree with you their although i always watch tv while reading so this realy looks good to me, i see it more for streaming Pandora or something like that when i read if it does have speakers or even a 3.5mm jack. And hopefully it won't to much, i am hopeful for it to match the kindles price.

Correction, its like strapping an Android MID to a book.

I Agree with that, its like a mytouch taped underneath the book that can automatically print the pages from your broswer to the book your reading, this looks like the best ebook reader that i have seen so far and it really doesn't look that big or to awkward to read, like half of a notebook.

I liked the concept art I saw for the B&N reader better - this tall aspect ration for the bottom screen just doesn't make sense - where are you seeing newly produced 4:3 AR videos nowadays? And for the cover-flow style navigation that the B&N reader supposedly uses, a more horizontally rectangular design would be ideal. I hope this isn't the B&N device, although with the erie list of similarities (Android, LDC/eInk hybrid, etc) I fear it may be. The aesthetic appeal of this just doesn't match that of the concept art I saw here: gizmodo.com/5380942/exclusive-first-photos-of-barn...

UPDATE: Plastic Logic is making the B&N reader, and it was just announced, so the Alex isn't it. Whew!

My point still stands i think this is a much better reader then the other two and only because you can print web articles to the eInk screen to view it easier. Plus it just looks like it works well.

how about enTourage eDGe? it's almost like this but just having two sides of the book? It might not be the strongest form of android though cuz it looks like it's not capacitive and takes stylus on both screens...

I like that one as well although with no videos showing anything like this i don't know if i would want the eDGe and its priced really high. Could be usefull but this one seems more consumer friendly right now.

The cool idea behind this product is when you start working with rich media such as magazines and newspapers. The articles can always be formatted to include the text on the eInk screen with images and possibly short movies on the bottom screen. Granted, those photos won't be so large, but until a day comes when color eInk is an economical possibility, it could fill a need.

It seems like most people here except deinfinityx are missing the point of this. Besides being an e ink reader it can surf to anywhere on the net, using a functional browser, and then transfer that up to the e ink screen there. Besides the obvious easy blog reading there are a ton of online readers for novels not to mention newspapers are offered for free online. My home city's newspaper isn't offered in the kindle store but this way i could easily read it from the device. I could navigate over to google docs and have access to any and all of my personal documents. Also using the built in android i could check my mail and use the e-ink screen to read it. It may not be a perfect device design, even though it doesn't bother me but the idea is huge.

Thank you that is exactly my point, the design isn't that great but the concept and what it will be able to do trumps all other ereaders other then maybe the eDGe but this still has more operational use and keeps a slim and almost hand held appearance.

Seems like this is a great design and great concept in general. I could go for this or the nook. I think the nook looks nicer but its sort of a toss up. Either once completely desimates the Kindle. The screen on this one seems more practical for general use than the screen on the nook, but I guess the nook's screen is more dedicated to specific ereader tasks.
