Killed by the iPad?

The iPad is surely a one-two KO to this thing.

Hah, I totally thought that same thing. I wonder what Fusion Garage is thinking right now?

"We probably should have let Arrington keep this device so he could be stuck with it... Whoops."

I was wondering the exact same thing. =)

$499 for a JooJoo...

or $499 for an iPad. 16gb local storage, all apps in iTunes, also has an iPod built-in. =)

Its dead at $499. Now the price must go down.

Yeah, Mike Arrington REALLY lucked out on this one. I doubt that the JooJoo will even ship a single unit now.

Well to be fair it was dead before this announcement.

No doubt; on the other hand, the fusion garage could become a defacto non-apple market item. Maybe if it ran Win7 or android it would be worth it.

That is where Archos already comes into play, although not very good quality wise they do have android and 7 tablets.

So one underwhelming product is killed by another underwhelming product. It's like a spelling bee in the Special Olympics.

iPad? You mean that Apple thing that almost no one wants, and everybody hates the name of? Heck, if the JooJoo could multitask, it would probably be the iPad killer. (Mind you, I really know absolutely nothing about the JooJoo except that it was almost the Crunchpad until the manufacturer had a falling out with the marketer.)

going to the https://thejoojoo.com/ site, it seemed to compare kind of favorably.... bigger 12.1" screen, higher resolution screen (1366 x 768), flash 10.1 & java support, 1080p video support...

of course this is only web browsing and movie watching we are talking about... (the main things I would use the iPad for anyway...)

the only problem, again, is the price... $500

maybe they will drop it after it launches and give us a decent privately funded, open source competitor.....

Killed? I think its a better product!

Its bigger, does flash, completely hackable since its using an atom chip (people will have it running Ubuntu or ChromeOS within a week of it coming out [which, agreed, may not happen]), has a webcam, and a USB port.

What it LACKS is lots of storage and the apple ecosystem.

I don't need lots of storage. I do all my calendaring and docs and email online. I have an iPhone for music (and the JooJoo can do pandora anway). I watch my videos on Hulu or Netflix (iPad can't).

I think the only thing which the iPad really has over the JooJoo is the app store, which since the iPad isnt portable, I don't see much of a benefit. Also, I don't care for games so much, if I do, its on a desktop.

I'd buy an iPad if it had multitasking and a stylus, webcam might work too. (Yes I know you can buy a stylus, but they aren't very fine-tipped and the OS has no handwriting-integration. I love how they act like you can take notes on the thing, but you can't you would be typing at it just like you would a netbook, only it would be less comftorable.

I'm assuming a lot of these features will be put in ver 2.0, so I'll wait for that. Apple's v2.0 are always the ones to go for.

$499 is way too high of a price for the JooJoo, but it also is a smaller company. Still i would choose the iPad over this...maybe. iPad is missing some key features, but its apple, so i shall buy =]
