just bought one used. what lens(es) to get?

i just bought a 20D used from a local photographer. he also gave me quite a kit of other parts to go with it, including a 50mm 1:1.8 lens.

i have an older 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 lens from my older EOS camera that works pretty well with it.

any recommendations on a good set of lenses to have in my bag, in addition to or to replace these? my intent is to mainly take photos of my new baby, and when we can actually leave the house, of landscapes and architecture.

you have the 50mm, that's an excellent one, even though with the crop factor you end up in the tele range. still good though. I could highly recommend the 85mm, f1.2. It's an absolute stunner when it comes to portraits and extremely good in low light, both things which are important when it comes to taking fotos of your kid. It's very expensive though and maybe not what you are looking for ;)

As for landscape, go for an ES-F wide lens. They are cheaper and because of the crop factor you need to go as wide as possible and that means ES-F. I'm sure you will be happy with your camera though, it's a great piece of equipment and I'm still surprised how well it is manufactured.
