Is there really Lack of honeycomb Apps? (as asked by an Ipad 2 owner)
All those people that have an Android Honeycomb/Icecream Sandwich tablet ... When you complain that there is a lack of apps, what do you mean?
Do you mean:
1. The existing apps just crash?
2. The apps you run don't have the options icon on the top right?
3. The apps don't look right on a larger screen?
4. Or some other meaning?
I bought an old Xoom for cheap to try out ICS when it comes out, and it has TONS of apps! Almost everything in the market works! I got like 20 top quality games. In fact I'd go as far as to say I like Asphalt 6 and Shine runner better on the Xoom wide screen.
General use wise though, it is not nearly as smooth as my Ipad2,or Iphone 4s, or even my friends SGS2! It works fine all the while, then all of a sudden for no reason it will stutter a bit, then carry on fine again. This is even without running lots of apps. (not that running lots of apps really changes that). People online seem to say ICS is a lot smoother. Lets wait for my update.
So what do you guys actually mean when you say there aren't any apps?

I'm with you... I've had a great experience on my Asus Transformer (tf101) with Honeycomb. There are many apps specifically designed for Honeycomb and in my experience, they all work perfectly excellent! Just about all other apps work fine for me also. Scaling works well and although some only work in portrait mode, I feel like there are more apps than I'll ever use. I'm not sure who the naysayers are, but Android tablets are definitely a capable and viable alternative to the iPad.
The lack apps was in reference to apps properly utilizing the OS and the features presented. When Honeycomb was debuted Google showcased an API called fragments which would allow for individual elements of the app to function differently. Similar to how when you turn an iPad from portrait to landscape you get a different UI that had components functioning independent of each other. Where Android was largely behind was in apps taking advantage of those components. For a while after the launch of the Xoom the apps that properly utilized features & screen real estate were few and far between. A lot of have caught up but it's not nearly to the capacity at which iOS has.
I think there's a lack of quality app for Android tablets that are designed for the larger screen. I don't use that many apps on my phone, but the major ones, like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Yelp...they don't have an app designed for the tablet form factor. Yes, they scale up, but they look really bad. I found that with games scale way better than apps with different UI elements like tabs and such.
So I've had my Xoom for a couple of months now, and I even got ICS on it!
And yes as pointed out, the official apps are formatted for phones, but I disagree where people say they scale up real bad. They actually don't look bad at all. They don't just make everything bigger like I first feared when I heard everyone complaining. They actually scale like programs in Windows/MacOS, as in fonts are the same size, it just shows more text etc. Some of them DO look like they're wasting space when scaled up like this, but they all look fine even if somewhat simple. For facebook, I use friend caster which is cool.
For me now, my Ipad2 is a games console. I actually use the Xoom for quickly checking other apps, or reading on the train. Also the new chrome browser actually makes the Web worth browsing on a tablet.
Having said all of that though, even with two tablets, I use my computer more (than the two tablets put together) when I'm at home, my kindle when I'm on the train, and my iphone at other times. :D
