Is the upgrade from Snow Lepoard to Lion making your mac slower?

I purchased a Macbook Pro 15" with 2.53 GHz and 4GB of ram. It is almost exactly one year old, it was purchased late august 2010. I upgraded to lion, and now the OS is running slower for me. Is this happening with other people?

yes. after upgrading to mac lion, my comp feels slower and there were some minor glitches. so i did a clean install of lion and now everything runs fantastic! so do a clean install if you're experiencing any issue.

On my nearly 4 year old MacBook Pro Core2Duo 2,16 GHz and 3 GB of RAM I can also see a slow down. But this has also been the third OS Upgrade (Tiger to Leopard - Leopard to Snow Leopard - Snow Leopard to Lion) without a new Installation which could also be part of the problem.

On my brand new 13" Core i5 MacBook Air (which is replacing my old MBP) Lion is blazingly fast.

Can you exactly say, when Lion feels slower for you?

Mostly durring animations, like when you go into launchpad or when logging back in after sleeping. Most of the new stuff they added. Also sometimes launchpad runs a little slow.

Their is for sure a sleep bug, like when my Macbook Pro wakes from sleep, all animations are slow, flash video plays horribly and scrolling is not nearly as smooth. A reboot fixes it. Hopefully Apple addresses it soon.

Other than that though Lion is great and I love it on my 2011 Macbook Pro 13" I5

I have not upgraded yet, but I have noticed that my Snow Leopard is now running slower after some of the recent updates Apple pushed out. So, it may be that whatever is slowing you down has been backported to Snow Leopard. It is annoying enough that I am now taking the time to try and get the trackpad working properly under Ubuntu (frigging no-button trackpad) so I can run it as my primary OS and only boot into OS X when I need something specific. Apple really has some of the worst coders and QA people in the business.
