Is the ipod touch only for kids and people who own an android phone?
I own an android phone and I buy the ipod touch so I can play ios games and enjoy both platforms simultaneously. So, what other use are there for the ipod touch and are there any iphone users who own one?
I bought an iPod Touch so I could listen to Spotify on my commute into the office. Sure I could use it on my Galaxy Nexus, but I'd rather not have to charge the thing every couple of hours and the iPod Touch in Airplane Mode has been getting me a week+ of listen time.
It works well as a dedicated media player. I know people who do carry around an iPhone and iPod touch, because if you are like me and send and receive hundreds of emails and texts a day (a lot from GDGT haha) , it takes a toll on phone battery life.
I guarantee you that my phone wouldn't last a day if I listened to music while I worked and used my phone like I normally do. So division of battery life. The iPod touch can last me a few days on a charge.
I do feel that most users are ones that have other phones, or kids so you do have a point there.
Some people even try convert their iPod touch into an iPhone using 3rd party kits (that I imagine work terribly)

I have an iPhone and iPad, and each of my kids has an iPod touch. So yeah, in my household you've got it just right :-)
(If I could get a Galaxy Player with ICS, I would have that as an Android app device too; so I can totally see people with Android phones getting iPod Touches as iOS app devices.)
Also there's no monthly bill on an iPod touch, so I do know some people who have landlines & an iPod touch for cost reasons.
