Is the Facebook Android app always running in the background? Here's a fix.

If you're like me, you've probably been annoyed that Facebook's Android app is always running in the background, even when you've disabled notifications. How to fix this? In the settings screen, re-checked Notifications so the "Refresh interval" option becomes available and then change that to "Never". Then disable Notifications again. Force quit the app and it should never be running again.

I have only tested this on stock Ice Cream Sandwich, but I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work on all versions of Android that can run the Facebook app.

Let us know if it works on your device and rom!

Another option: don't use the facebook app at all, go to Manage Apps and Disable it. App disabling is an awesome feature of ICS.

Thanks for this. I'm on a stock Motorola Triumph, so I'm limited to 2.2 until I root the thing and get Cyanogen 7 on it, but I can confirm that this fix works on the phone.
