Is it true that the RAM can be upgraded to 16GB on this machine?

I read that the earlier model could be stuffed with 16GB and it would recognize it.

Hey Travis, I know for a fact the 15-inch can support it, but any idea if the 13-inch Pro can too?

I did some further digging.

In fact Apple says the maximum memory on both the 13" and 15" is 8GB.

Yet people have had success with 16GB on at least the 15", so now I am confused a bit.

Apple has probably only rigorously tested for 8GB. With 16GB you are on your own.

I think it was more a matter of cost since 8GB DIMMs used to be too costly to offer as an upgrade. I upgraded to 16 GB recently on an early 2011 Macbook Pro and it recognized it and works great.

If Other World Computing says an upgrade will work, it works or they will refund your money.

I've never had a problem with OWC RAM upgrades, but YMMV of course.
