Is it me...
Or is this brick the best Sony Ericsson phone?
It seems every other new SE phone has serious issues like buttons breaking, random restarts...
This phone has lasted me 3 years with no problems. I couldn't imagine replacing it with any other dumbphone out there at the moment.

This was definitely the most solid phone I have ever had. I dropped it on concrete and asphalt countless times over the 2.5 years I had it. It ended up with just a few nicks here and there on it. The camera with autofocus was superb. It had trouble in low light, but what phone doesn't. I did not replace it with a dumbphone/feature phone. The next phone I got was the iPhone 3G which was great although I missed the camera quality from the Sony Ericsson (and the ability to record videos). With Opera Mini installed this was even a decent phone to use for web browsing.
I had also flashed it (think rooting or jailbreaking) to allow me to use MP3's as ringtones and message alerts.
If I needed a feature phone this is definitely the phone I would buy or measure against.

Yes! I've had this phone for 3 years before I got the iPhone, I was so happy with it. From battery life to functionality, this phone was really one of a kind. My favorite feature was being able to turn off your phone and have the alarm to still work :) I couldn't believe my iphone couldn't do that when I got it.
Very True...It is a brick, but it's one of the best cellphones ever released, Hands down! I've had it now for almost three years, still works like a champ. I've dropped it numerous times, even in water-based coolant (I own a machine-shop)!
The 2.0MP camera took better quality pictures than did my 5.0MP Olympus at the time. Sony Ericsson did not disappoint with this wonder.

Have been using since 3 years ago, dropped it several times, even thrown it 1-2 time, it still lasts
best phone I use to date..
In fact, this is the last phone of Sony Ericsson that has super-feature, after this phone all SE phone are specific to a feature, the Ws don't have auto-focus etc, the Cs don't have good player, etc. But look at this, walkman, auto-focus (OK 2MP is not a fancy number for now, but hey, it's 3 years ago)
Great handphone

Such a great phone! I just retired it, and the only issue I had is that my camera button stopped working consistently too. I replaced the backplate with the w800's (?) so it had a lens cover; my only other wish would've been a headphone jack. But it's the only phone I've ever had that could chug along stably for weeks or months without needing a restart.
I have to agree. This phone has some of the best build quality and reliability I have come across.
I absolutely agree. I was the first one to get one out of my friends and family a couple years ago. Whenever someone saw it, they too, wanted it's goodness. I converted 8 people from whatever they were using to it including my girlfriend.
Years later I still count it as one of the best phone to date. Maybe not the best smartphone, as it is not one, but if you don't need smartphone functionality it's the best you're gonna get.

Best. Phone. Ever. Not in terms of screen size or product support, but I love this phone to death. Out of 7 phones so far (3 motorola, 1 htc, 2 samsung and the sony) this is the only one I really liked. My other phones had some cool features, but none lasted like the w810i. This phone took at least a hundred falls onto the ground, got stepped on, hit, thrown and tortured endlessly, but never even hiccuped once. Nearly indestructable.
The OS on the phone is pretty basic, but did what it needed to. Didn't freeze, lock up, reset, report errors, or even slow down. Really easy to use menus, the shortcut button being the best part of it.
For a non smart phone it had some pretty cool features too. The camera was great (for when the phone was released), infrared port was kinda cool, FM tuner worked pretty well, and the fact that there was a 3.5mm dongle for the phone made it that much better. Real easy to add programs to, and worked great with Opera Mini browser. My FAVORITE part of the phone, however, was the ability to turn on the flash without having to keep hitting the camera button. That thing saved my life.
All in all, 9 out of 10 phone. Definitely worth the money, easy to use, great features, and very reliable.

I''ll chime in with a "me too" - the best phone I ever had - period. Would last a long time (days++) on a single charge. Could leave it on for months at a time. Bluetooth worked well with my SE headset. Camera was OK for a cellphone.
I worked in the mobile phone industry for a number of years and have had over a dozen phones over the years - the W810i was the best.
The screen finally failed on a trip to San Francisco and I bought a used, unlocked phone to get me through the trip trading in the W810i as part of the deal. Mistake on my part, should have kept it to have the screen repaired once I returned home.

This was the absolute best phone. I sold it on craigslist after "upgrading" (and I use that term with disdain) to a B Blackberry Curve. The guy who bought it already owned it and was buying mine for his girlfriend who was in love with his phone.
Everything about the interface was so intuitive and smooth. The camera was fantastic and the music player was great.

loved this phone! was so sad when the autofocus stopped working just as att stopped carrying it
It's true, i had it too for 3 years and survived even after flew over the air and landed on a pool xD, it takes good photos, good sound, and many things i miss of that phone. If only had wifi it could be the perfect phone for me and choose it over my nokia 5800 cos this phone just doesnt work
