iOS 5 on Original iPad

I didn't load iOS 5 on my iPad 1 yet. I wanted to get some feedback from you all before I did. Is it sluggish like the iPhone 3G was with iOS 4? Thanks.

i would advise waiting a few days; nearly every app needs a tweek for IOS5 . . . only about a third have put out updates so far . . .

I have been using the various flavors of iOS 5 for quite some time and have run into very very few compatibility issues for what its worth.

No issues w/ iOS5 itself, it's working well. Wall St Journal app, Jacksonville Sun Gator sports app, a couple of the 3rd party browsers, had / have minor functionality issues. Most have already been addressed and am sure remainder will be resolved soon. Latest update for the Apple word procesor req'd going to iOS5, which is why I updated. . . I'm an app hound and notice the nit-noid stuff; recommend updating to iOS5, just spin through the app store regularly for a few days to bring in the updates as well.

Works beautifully - I love the iMessage App addition. I remember iOS 4 on the 3G, and it was almost unusable. I haven't notice any difference in functional speed, I'm glad I did the upgrade - you will be too.

Important note The upgrade results in the loss of those Multi-touch (4/5 Finger) developer gestures for switching between apps, pulling up the app task list, etc. Appears they are lost on the iPad v1 after upgrading to iOS 5. Now whether this is on purpose or a bug remains to be seen. Hopefully it's fixed on a small OS revision. If you're asking what are the multi-touch gestures I'm referring to, well you're fine to upgrade - you won't miss anything.

It works "okay". No real problems, but disappointed they removed the multi-touch gestures. The link below is a nice way to get them to work without even a jailbreak.

My other complaint - you can't put "Newstand" app in a folder! I won't ever use that feature and I wish I could bury it in a folder but Apple says - nope.

This can get rid of "Newstand" for you! Thanks for the above tip!

Works Fine
Speaking from experience, it works fine. Download, install, and enjoy the ability to use iCloud, wireless syncing, notifications, etc., etc.

Only problem I had was not being organized with my contacts from MS Exchange, Google Contacts and the ones already on the phone... some became duplicates contacts and just needed to link them together.

I've done it and it works fine, without the battery drain I am seeing on the iPhone 4.

It works great and seems faster and smoother. I prefer typing on my iPad more than my phone, so with iMessage the iPad has become my home texting device. But is it just me or does Safari tend to crash when using Reader?
