Probably the biggest surprise related to the release of iOS 4.2 is the ability for users of the latest generation of iOS devices to freely use Apple's Find My Phone feature, which was previous only available to Mobile Me subscribers (at $99 / year).
It's kind of a cool perk, and judging by some of the success stories people have had with it, it can turn out to be quite useful. I'll be honest, this was the only reason I was actually considering getting a Mobile Me subscription.
Via Ars:
"Finally, Apple added a little cherry on top for iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, and iPad users: free access to the Find My iPhone feature. This feature lets you track down a missing device via CoreLocation, and even remotely wipe the data. This feature previously required a $99 per year MobileMe subscription; unfortunately, owners of older devices will still have to pay to access the service."
What are you most looking forward to in iOS 4.2? I think multitasking on the iPad is my favorite feature, and something that will make this even more useful.
