I've wanted one of these babies for quite some time.
I have a Lenovo X41 pen-based tablet that I have used to annotate contracts for the last few years. e-ink with Office, Evernote and PDF Annotator are all terrific tools. But, alas, these are all segregated from my main computing rig. My dream is to have a Wacom Cintiq (or competitive product) hanging off my main rig as a fourth monitor (yes I alrady have 3 large displays on my primary PC for contract drafting), so I can drag a document down to the tablet, and mark it up with e-ink.
This product should close the final loop in my effort to go paper-less. The primary reason I still print-out contracts is to be able to mark-them up manually with pen and highlighters while reviewing.
The problem. I can't justify $2,000 for this single-use case. If there is a comparable product out there in the $800 range, I'd be interested. I've seen product announcements come and go, but never a product that could compete with the Cintiq for my needs. For example the Samsung's 720TD 17-tablet display was announced years ago on Engadget for $800 but as far as I know its never come to market in North America:
www.engadget.com/2006/01/11/samsungs-720td-17-inch...
Anyone know of a competitive product that could do the same thing for under $1,000, preferably under $800. I do not need the high-fidelity of the Cintiq. I just want the large real-estate. All I want/need to do is mark-up contracts with red e-ink and virtual highlighters.
Cheers.

I want the Cintiq 21UX (or competitive product) for my law practice
If you don't need the massive screen, then have you considered going for the little brother of this version, the Wacom Cintiq 12WX, which I'm pretty sure you can get for under a $1000 dollars, and maybe even for under $800 (I haven't checked prices recently, but looked at it a few months back and it wasn't wildly out of that range). Check it out; since you only want to do such basic tasks with it, there seems no reason why a 12" screen wouldn't be sufficient for you.
Thanks pratikvats. It's now over a year later and I'm still looking. Yes, I'm now considering the Cintiq 12WX. It's always looked a tad too small for me though. The Wacom DFT-720 or DTF-1631s are also possibilities. And with the surging Canadian $ now may be the time to buy. But the cheapest I can find the Cintiq 12WX for at this moment is $929 Cdn at NXIX:

Oh I am ever so tempted... but it seems just too small. GRrrr!!!

After writing the above, I just noticed the Wacom DTF521. When you go to its product page, the picture shows a contract being marked-up:
www.wacom.com/pendisplays/DTF521.php
discussed here on GDGT:
gdgt.com/wacom/dtf-521/
but showing a different picture from what Wacom has on their site.
Based on the images for the products on the Wacom site. I think the gdgt pictures for the DTF-521 and the DTF-720, discussed on gdgt here:
gdgt.com/wacom/dtf-720/
are mixed up - ie: wrong picture with wrong product.
Anyway, the dtf-720 picture on gdgt or the dtf-521 picture on the Wacom site depicts exactly what I need/want to do with a pen-display like this - annotate contracts with e-ink to send back to clients or lawyers on the other side of a transaction. Unfortunately the price, for the DTF-521 is still $1,624! About twice the price I'd like to pay. But heading in the right direction.
