I'm thinking about what to do with this.

Simply put, I rarely sit down in my living room anymore to listen specifically to music anymore, the vast majority of my music listening is done at the PC's when I'm doing something else. Sad, but true. While as a concept, sitting down with a nice glass of brandy enjoying perhaps some Stravinsky with maybe the world's greatest headphone seems like a great idea, practicalities and really, personal preferences mean that on the very rare occasions that I am actually sitting down in the living room I've got the speakers on. I just don't see these getting any serious use with the way I live now.

I've considered moving it to my home office but the problem with this type of device is that I've 'chaired' (i.e. rolled over, snag, drop or worst case, cable shred) a large number of headphones, especially the HD650 which I've owned several examples of. I did for a short while have another Orpheus unit in my home office a number of years ago, and I almost chaired that a couple of times. The other issue is that it's massively unwieldy to use in comparison to a regular dynamic headphone. It's one of the reasons for example I ended up getting rid of the similarly electrostatic Stax in the office (again, and likely for the very last time).

Sale is another option - I'm seeing slightly more than the original prices being thrown around for these and it is kind of tempting. However I don't see anything similar coming around the pike anytime soon and admittedly I'm a hoarder of rare geek-toys where possible.

Storage is the other option. However environmental issues exist in storage, so I'm also wondering what the options are for some sort of controlled and reasonably economical enclosure.

This is kind of a rhetorical post in one way to put my thoughts onscreen, but does anyone also have other suggestions, and also suggestions for stable and economical storage of vintage tech gear that you don't want to succumb to the ravages of time and variable environmental conditions?
