I know that I have been waiting for these to become readily available for a couple of months but I just wanted to give a heads up about 32GB MicroSDHC cards.

Apparently a few reputable retailers have them in stock now like Buy.com and J&R.

Hopefully I'll get one in the next couple months and get all my media from my iPod Touch onto my Nexus One. If only the battery lasted as long...

Thanks for the head's up!

I wonder when the actual MicroSD cards will be cheaper.
I'm looking to use my N1 for music and pictures.

Well when Google launches their music service you won't need an SD card for any music unless you plan to listen to music with no coverage, it will just stream from your computer to your phone. Now videos on the other hand will need the card and $150, although a lot is still not that bad.

The problem with this is that streaming music over wifi or 3g takes up a lot more battery than playing it locally does. That is why I prefer to use my own music most of the time instead of using services like Pandora.

The thing that I want is for my music to be in the cloud so that I can pull it from anywhere. I would sacrifice battery life for that in no time because then I don't have to be within range of my computer to listen to the music, unless Google is playing some fancy tricks where you can still listen to the music without being near your main machine.

If I am not mistaken that is what Google is aiming to do, set it up on your home maching and pull from it wherever you are in the world. Playing locally is nice but can already be done with things like Gmote(which can pull files over 3G from anywhere with some extended setup)

I'm just a little confused about how that music is going to be pulled off my machine if it is sleeping or off which it is 100% of the time when I'm not home.

Ah well then this would pose a problem, for me not so much since my computer stays on all the time, since I so no need to shut it down ever.

Have you checked out Subsonic? I'm using it not for all my music (650+ artists) and it's pretty flawless in streaming from my home pc to my phone. You can adjust bit rate quality too if you want a lower bandwidth stream. It also supports caching in case you lose signal it will cache at least 500mb if you tell it too.

People have configured the server to stream video but it takes more tinkering and they have also gotten it to work via ssl for a more secure connection.

Yeah I am with you, it would be nice but I am not liking the class 2 speeds.

Exactly. I'm hoping that this is the start of a good trend. By the time I buy one I'm assuming there will be something better available. Really hoping for a class 6 card before the holidays.
