I just installed Jolicloud 1.

0 on my netbook and it's an improvement in the UI, but I still don't really see how this is leaps and bounds better than just Windows 7.

It definitely got away from looking straight up like Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Now the launcher is made entirely in HTML5 and it looks pretty nice. They also switched all the apps so that they run in Chrome. I think this is a big improvement because Firefox has gotten way too slow and you could see that in the previous version of Jolicloud.

Other than that, I still don't see how this will take off. When you launch an app (majority are web apps), it opens up in it's own window, giving you a tab bit more screen real estate. Isn't that basically what we had before there was tabbed browsing? I think I read somewhere that Jolicloud is optimised for netbooks, but I'm not seeing any sort of performance boost. If anything, it's worse than WIndows 7. For example, flash content and Hulu run much smoother on Windows 7 than Jolicloud.

In the end, I'd really just prefer to have a full screen browser window...aka Chrome OS.

Anyone else try it out? Thoughts?
