I just got one of these from ebay. Its beautiful, made in the USA, and all mine!!!
I got it because I want to learn assembly on a 6052 processor. Emulators lack that tactile feel. C64s are too popular, so I wanted to get something that was a little obscure and underpowered.
nice.
the VIC-20 was the first computer my family bought. i was 8 years old (1984) and completely enamored with it. taught myself BASIC after printing miles of banners with a really noisy dot matrix printer (causing my parents to stop buying paper) and a copy of Broderbund's "The Print Shop"
i can almost still feel those spongy, long-throw mechanical keys in my imagination.

I still have mine from when I was 12. Got it for my birthday and it was my first computer. Learned programming on it by typing in lots of stuff from magazines. I would leave it turned on for days on end because I didn't get the tape drive until Christmas three months later. I also got the 3k expander for it. 6144 BYTES FREE, baby!
Thats awesome. hehe 6144 Bytes Free!!
Believe or not, a lot of people are into this system still... I found some forum, where people write new games, and discuss the vic-20 quite a bit... sleepingelephant.com/denial/
