They live at opposite ends of the apartment - one connected to the modem, the other repeating and bridging to my office PC. The bridge repeater brings the wifi network signal up to full blast, no matter where in the apartment I am.
All the hype surrounding dd-wrt on the WRT54G series is absolutely warranted. Upgrade yours ASAP.
