how's the battery life? (if you now).

I'm pretty much thinking of passing this for a GS2 or even getting a nexus s (with at&t bands) instead.

Battery life isn't so bad, actually! Better than the Samsung Charge (which makes sense, since the Charge has LTE). I want to give it a few more days of real-world testing before passing judgment, but so far hasn't been as bad as I might have feared given how thin it is.

Yeah, I think i have had better luck with this than the charge too.

How much RAM is the phone using? The Atrix has 1GB on board but I've read it only uses half of that in phone mode.

When I checked right now it's currently using 318MB of 429MB total available.

Is the phone too big to be considered pocketable or manageable for your liking?

This is a great question. Because it's so thin it is actually very pocketable and it feels pretty good in the hand. Now, 4.5-inches is going to be just too big for some people -- maybe even most people -- but I actually like how easy it is to type on it and it is not unwieldy like the 5-inch Dell Streak (which despite only having a slightly bigger screen just seems too big to me).

Now the one downside of the big screen is that the WVGA resolution doesn't look so hot at that size. I compared it with the QHD resolution of the 4.3-inch screen on the HTC Sensation, and there is really no doubt that once you get to 4.3 inches and above you need that higher resolution. Fonts look way better. But otherwise I think 4.5-inches works, though it's probably the upper bound for this stuff, if that makes sense.

I agree, I'm also using one and it's not too bad, I think it's more of a front pocket device rather than a back pocket

Peter, I've seen some conflicting reports about the on-board storage capacity. Can you tell us how much your review unit has (both total and available)? Thanks.

The unit comes with a 2GB microSD card and also has 13.03GB of total space and 13.02GB of available space on its internal SD card, and 1.54GB of internal phone storage. So basically 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot.

Do you feel that the 4.5inch screen size is just too big? Is the extra real estate over the 4.3inch screens worth the added size?

I think I pretty much answered that one already, but in short, I don't think it's too big, though I'm sure others will feel differently.

I love the size, however, this is likely biggest id like to see phones get

I can only find the thickness in the press release, did you find the full set of dimensions? (weight?)

P.S. Great meeting you at GDGT Live last Friday, great event!

These are the full dimensions according to PhoneArena:

5.20 x 2.80 x 0.35 in. (132 x 71 x 9 mm)
Weight: 4.90 oz (139 g)

How do you find the form factor? A lot was made over the Dell Streak and it's too big yet too small-ness.

I quite like it. I think 4.5-inches is about as big as you can go, I have the Streak as well and it feels like that crosses over into being too large to really work as a phone. The thinness of the Infuse really helps, of course.

That said, I don't think the Infuse is for everyone, there are plenty of people who will find it too large (just like there are people who think the EVO, Thunderbolt, Droid X, etc are too large).

do you prefer this to say a Nexus S? I know the nexus is already old hardware but i'm thinking of the experience when using stock android versus touchwiz and also the bigger screen (4.5") vs a 4" screen (nexus)

For me the biggest downside to the Nexus S was battery life, it wasn't great compared with some of the other Android phones that have come out lately. Having stock 2.3 is a big plus, and it's frustrating that anyone would release a phone running 2.2 in May 2011. Samsung also isn't doing themselves any favors with TouchWiz (or at least not with the 3.0 version), and fortunately you can use ADW or LauncherPro to clean things up, so to speak.

I think a tougher choice is between the Infuse and the Sensation, since the Sensation has a higher resolution display. One of my criticisms of the Infuse is that WVGA just doesn't look all that great on a 4.5-inch screen compared with QHD on the Sensation's 4.3-inch screen.

If this were to get Gingerbread, it would be better than the nexus s likely

as big as I would like to go, 5 inches just seems too much

How does this compare to the Galaxy SII? Do you feel like it is redundant considering the SII will be out soon?
