I feel like the backside trackpad could be very useful as long as theres an option to switch it off otherwise it could become quite annoying.
I don't think it will be as annoying as you think.
Then again, maybe. Haha.
If it's capacitive that'll leave me from worrying about triggering it while it's laying on my lap. That's the only real instance I can see being a problem if the ADAM just has a traditional track pad (which I would consider highly likely).
However, in all the videos, there seems to be enough wiggle room in holding the device to carry it without needlessly touching the backtrackpad, and the inclined design of the overall unit seems to be made just for the purpose of avoiding this triggering problem on flat surfaces (i.e., tables).
