I don't know what to do about this phone! I got my original DROID on day one, and now I feel as if it is becoming obsolete.
I think that the DROID X seems like a great phone, but is it worth using up an available upgrade and $200? Motorola said that they are working on two video chatting DROID branded phones and a 2ghz one! So, shall I wait until the end of the year for these, or go for the DROID X?
Gotta say I agree, I am already in a 2 year agreement so I'll probably wait the 14 months from now when I can get the extra $100 off of a phone, by then i'm sure all phones will have video chat and dual core 3ghz processors with 4gb ram.
Ehhh, I have the Milestone and I'm feeling the wrath of waiting for Motorola's updates... I'm selling mine and buying a Nexus One.
Eh? 2.1 came out within a few months of the N1 - a phone that shipped with 2.1. You're upset Froyo isn't out immediately?
Yeah but 2.2 is out (the final release leaked) for the nexus one. Also, the Nexus one is rootable, whereas the Milestone is not. Not rootable in a custom rom sense anyways.
The Nexus One comes unlocked, and it comes with AT&T bands which are the same for Telus, Bell and Rogers up here.
It's kinda of hard to imagine what someone is going to do with a 2 GHz phone; I wouldn't wait for getting a new phone solely on that (same with video chat; I don't see it becoming a reasonable feature until we have 4G networks; otherwise it's only going to be a WIFI-only feature). If you are going to do an upgrade in the near future I would suggest the Droid X only if you wanted a device with a bigger screen; if not then consider the Incredible or wait for the Droid 2.
The DROID 2 is going to be too much like the original for my liking. And with the original now I miss the candy bar form factor. The Incredible is not worth a penny right now in my opinion. Is it worth using up an upgrade?
I think it is. It has only been out a couple months and its hardware is still current. The only major differences between it and the Droid X are the screen sizes and types (OLED v. LCD; I could care less whether or not a phone has an HDMI out). If you want to get picky between the two in regards to photos or video then you should definitely check out articles on Engadget/Gizmodo (or whatever blogs you may prefer) that have examples and see if you like one over the other. Also consider checking them out both in person when you can as the screen types are different.
the droid X and Incredible run vastly different processors. It's been proven that the TI OMAP processor in the Droid X is better than a SnapDragon. The Moto Droid Overclocked to 1Ghz runs better Quadrant tests than a 1Ghz Snapdragon on the Incredible.
I would say the Droid X is better by far, assuming you don't need a physical keyboard. Plus the 720p Video capture appears viewable, but not perfect.
I dunno, ymmv.

I tried rooting, and I was pretty unsuccessful. Would you be willing to help me?
I would recommend checking out droidforums.net. They have some really good guides. rooting a 2.1 device is tricky, most often you must rollback to 2.0.1, that's the easiest way in my opinion. Anywho, best of luck! totally worth it!
