How's your battery life on the 3GS?

I feel like I'm getting a 20 percent improvement over the 3G but I still need to charge it every day (sometimes twice) under heavy usage. It's definately not powerful enough when I'm not home or near an outlet. Are you guys satisfied with the 3GS battery life? If not, how often do you use it? I was considering an external battery pack but I tried the morphie juice air before and the thing is way too bulky for me to hold! That was supposed to be the smaller one right?

mine's the same. i had a t-mo dash & if i used that heavily during a day, i'd have to charge. i've just come to the realization i need to charge daily. since i use my phone as an alarm, it's not an issue. i'm pretty much always near an outlet/computer to charge.

I use my 3GS quite heavily everyday, and the battery life is terrible. It's usually down to 10% by mid-day so I'll charge it and it'll run back down by the time the day is done. It is jailbroken, so that might have an effect, but I've been careful not to have very many processes running in the background.

When I travel, I use the Mophie to keep the 3GS juiced up while in the airport and while in use on the plane. That way, when I arrive at my destination I can store the Mophie and use the 3GS fully charged by itself. If I have a big travel day and know that I won't need 3G, I turn it off and that helps extend battery life significantly.

I actually find the 3GS' battery life to be better than I personally expected, especially stand-by time. Note that it's my first iPhone. I always have an extremely low expectation for a smartphone's battery life. Under light use, my 3GS can probably last for a couple of days. I use my iPhone more for twitter, facebook, emails, and iPod. Making phone calls, on the other hand, especially under 3G, can really suck out the battery. It can drop to ~60-70% in just a couple hours. Even my Nokia E51's battery life can be drained fairly quickly when making calls under 3G. It's just the way it is, I guess.

1 thing I do find is that enabling notification seems to really drain the battery even faster, and that's just for one app.

As for those that thinks the iPhone's battery life as "terrible," have you used other smartphones like S60 or Winmo phones? How is the battery life of those phones if you use them like you use the iPhone? (This is a real question, not a flamebait question). I used to use the Nokia E51, an S60 phone. It can last for days, but then again I never use it for anything else other than calls/SMS, unlike the iPhone (twitter, facebook, email, iPod). When making many 3G phone calls, I still have to charge it the end of the day.

I agree, it sucks. Yet it's better than the 3G's. I use Tweetie, Newsstand, iPod 2-3 other apps all day long and I have to charge it during the night.
