Hilarious

I thought this thing was the next GameBoy when it came out. Oh how wrong I was. I played everything from Duke Nukem to Wheel of fortune on this thing. I completely wore it out.

It was pretty creative though. It had two cartridge ports and an empty promise of internet connectivity. All together it managed to satisfy a year or so of my childhood.

I remember being ticked off when they came out with a "back-lit" version of this. But their version of "back-lit" was using the same "indi-glo" that was used to back lite cheap digital watches.

Seriously. I got a 1:1 scale cardstock printout of this thing in some magazine, and used to hold it as if I was playing it, just waiting for it to launch. When it launched I dropped the $120 or so on it and Indy 500 (a lot of money in middle school) and wore it out too. I actually got the Game.com Pocket Pro (backlit version) with Resident Evil 2 and played it for a while. Touch screen, modem, PIM software, and some seriously nice hardware. The software developers had no clue what they were doing though... too used to programming for segmented LCD games.

I ran a website dedicated to the console too, GC Player I think. There was a fairly active community around it. At least it gave me an excuse to learn to code web pages.

Haha...I had this thing. So hilariously bad. The only good game was that Lights Out one built in.
