Hi, I work for HTC

Hey everyone, I wanted to open a new thread to let you all know that I (Wyatt) will be here on gdgt, and I work for HTC. You all are already chatting about our products (thank you btw) so my aim is simply to join the conversation with everyone. I'm also on the company twitter (@htc) if you are of the tweeting persuasion. So here I am! I promise to read everything and chime in as often as I can with new information and answers to questions.

Now, let's make good use of this awesome site together, shall we?

Thanks again for all the conversation thus far! Really excited to be here and I hope I can give you all a little window into HTC.

Wyatt

I pre-order the HTC Hero and I'm just very pleased to hear that there is an upgrade for the OS. Will that come already installed or will there be a later update? Oh and how big will the card be with the unit?

Wyatt,
I assume you work at Seattle or Bellevue campus.
I have been trying to get hold of someone in HTC to discuss an idea of mine.
Google search found this post of yours so I am giving this a try.

I invented something that I believe will change the way we use smart phones.
Now, I am trying to get that idea in front of the right people.
An idea alone will not do much without some resources.
I know HTC is big on innovation, and you look like a company with integrity.
It helps a lot that you are local to me(I live in Everett) , and you make great phones (I love my G2 from T-mobile)
I need to talk to someone interested in making a better product.

I understand this is a strange way to get a contact, but at this point (short of knocking on your offices door) I do not know what else to do.
All I am asking is a phone number or email to someone from research and development division.
Or at least a direction for me to go in.

Hopefully this will get to you and you feel compelled enough to answer. (any answer would be appreciated)

My email address (spambot-prove, hopefully) is wojtek.kinga from gmail

Thanks

Wojtek

Exciting to see a real employee reaching out to customers! My wife loves her HTC Incredible! Due to battery issues we are considering buying a Seidio Innocell battery, does a 3rd party battery do any long term harm to the phone? People have said it makes it heavier and runs hotter.

She has gotten better at turning off wifi, bluetooth, etc when idle, but any tips to conserve battery life?
In you opinion if we end up buying another battery, what is the best battery to make sure her phone doesn't die prematurely?

Hey Wyatt,

This is really cool how you and HTC are actually reaching out to end-users. I have a question about your phones/designs. What do you consider when you design your phones?

I'm sure you consider how it will effect the person using the phone, but I'm asking because I really enjoy QWERTY Sliders like the Desire Z. It seems more and more manufacturers are making devices to be a bar design with just the touchscreen.

As a gamer, whenever I'm not sending an email to a co-worker, scheduling my next study group, or tweeting about a great hot dog joint, I play games on my phone (ex-iPhone user). The one thing that frustrated me with games developed for the iOS format is that it is not the same as having actual buttons. A friend of mine recently purchased a T-Mobile G2 and downloaded a SNES emulator app. After spending some time with it, I fell in love with the Android experience and HTC's detail to hardware design.

I know this sounds like a petty request, but is there any possible way that HTC would design a phone that is gamer-friendly? It doesn't need a gamepad (although if you do, that'd be cool!) but maybe a QWERTY Slider that has buttons in a perpendicular setting.

Hello

I believe HTC have an agreement with Telstra (Australia) to sell devices. Please stop this as Telstra are scum sucking rodents who deserve to perish in the bowels of hell due to their absurdly high prices. So when the HD2 decides to scoot it's gorgeous ass over here, may I suggest Vodafone.

Love Sam.
