Hey guys!

So @chinster asked me to do a Q&A thread about the Xperia Play (aka PlayStation Phone) since we happen to have one, and I've spent a good few days using it as my main phone:

Fire away! :)

Do the game controls have functions when your not gaming? Can they be mapped to keyboard shortcuts?

Yes, they do. A couple of the action keys work too, but I forgot what they do (one is "back" I think).

Thanks. I'm glad Sony Ericsson didn't miss the utility of those extra buttons.

It's hard to tell since the official games aren't out yet, but it shouldn't be bad with PSX emulation at least.

Thanks for posting this up!

I was curious about the thickness on this device. From the pictures I've seen, it seems like it's on the chunkier side. How does it feel in the hand and is it a pain getting in and out of the pocket?

The phone is 1.6cm thick in the middle, feels good with its curved back and causes no trouble when pulling it out of the pocket.

Do you find the phone to be easy to navigate? The shots of the UI seem to make it look pretty clunky.

It's just the same as any Android device. The pinch-to-widgets overview on the homescreens help you jump to another homescreen very quickly, but as you can see in my hands-on video, it's still needs polishing to become smoother.
