Have a Droid Charge in hand, any questions? Ask them here and I'll do my best to answer them.

Would love to know how the battery does compared to Thunderbolt. (Have to question judgement of CMO that signed off on "Charge" branding.)

I haven't really used the Thunderbolt, but I can report that the battery life on the Charge is disappointing. Going a full day with regular use is difficult with 4G on.

The review over at Slashgear stated that the Droid Charge got better battery life than the ThunderBolt and mentioned they got 6-8 hours usage out of it. www.slashgear.com/droid-charge-review-04150062/

Thanks!

* How offensive is TouchWiz, compared to the Fascinate? Is it identical, toned down, etc?
* BATTERY LIFE?
* Can you turn 4G off?

Good questions:

I really really dislike TouchWiz, but it is somewhat better here. Icons are still ugly, but some of the widgets are nicer.

Still testing battery, will report back.

You can switch off LTE, there's an option in Settings under Mobile Networks to select a network mode.

Being able to turn off 4G was the saving grace for my EVO 4G when I had it. I'm glad to hear the Charge has the same feature.

Given this www.droid-life.com/2011/05/02/droid-charge-crushes... I'm looking for more battery reports...I'm tentatively excited that the Charge might finally be Android's answer to the iPhone's (IMHO) best feature.

I hate TouchWiz, too...I suppose the icons are irrelevant if you're a LauncherPro user like me, though.

Have you tried an alternate homescreen replacement? Does that mitigate TouchWiz on this device or is it still bothersome.

Also, how does it look and feel in person? Is it as ugly as it looks in the pictures?

I've put Launcher Pro on it, which mostly does the trick if you don't like TouchWiz, there are some browns and oranges that I would love to change (like in the notification drawer).

These things are always a matter of personal preference, but I think it's ugly. The good news is that it's light, at least for a 4.3-inch phone and feels pretty good in the hand. Although the back casing is a bit slippery and I foresee myself dropping the phone sooner or later.

I don't find TouchWiz that bad. I can only compare it to vanilla froyo which I ran on a Nexus one for a while. Battery life has been pretty good. Only thing to really drain it fast is setting up the mobile hotspot with LTE (4G). Yes, as Peter mentioned you can turn off LTE. I'm gonna have to try Launcher Pro.

Sorry, one more question: can the Charge to voice+data without WiFi, like the Thunderbolt can?

Do you mean can it do data over 3G/4G while making a voice call?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Even 1x data while on a call would be cool.

I was able to check the web and access data while on a voice call.

My main question is voice quality on the other end. I've heard it's not so good. Can you compare the call quality on both ends to the Thunderbolt.

I haven't used a Thunderbolt, so can't say, but voice quality is ok. Not astounding, but didn't seem especially bad to me.

does the charge have led notifcation?

No, I don't think any of the Samsung Android phones I've tested lately have LED notifications.

What major hardware or software issue does this one have? Seems like Samsung can't release a phone without at least one major issue. I would love to hear that they are finally beyond that, but their track record doesn't encourage me.

Actually, all things considered I'd say it's one of their better implementations. My major concern about the Charge is that the battery life is short unless you disable LTE. Oh, and the phone itself is ugly.
