Had this phone and ended up hating it

My main complaint is the very odd navigation button layout and large size. When it broke (my fault - dropped and cracked screen), I replaced it with Sony Ericsson W890i which I'm very happy with.

I really wouldn't recommend it.

I actually enjoy the button layout very much. The travel between the buttons counters their small size, plus a lot of real estate was gained by moving the selection buttons to the screen. If you have the w890i, I'm sure you can tell that the keys are much harder to differentiate... Although I will say that the D-pad is horrendous for games becuase of the huge distance between the up and down parts of the ring...

i agree, i've had mine for almost 2 years now and the only thing that's "broken" is the d-pad which has fallen off twice but that was just some glue drops away from working fine again D:

I've had issues with the speaker just cutting out. Apparently it's a known issue with a loose cable going to the speaker. I've just had to whack it against a hard surface to get the sound back. Of course, the back of the phone is now all chipped and cracked because of this.

Apart from that, I've found it a functional phone.

Well I managed to get used to the large navitation button thingie real quick, that bothered me about it was that the system overall was slooooooooooow.

the pictures were GREAT with the right setting, 3g navigation and tether was really quick too.

I have good memories overall of this phone : )

This was perhaps the 2nd worst phone I have ever owned. And I have worked in the mobile phone industry and owned more than a dozen phones over the years.

It's faults -

- the screen needed replacement after 4 months.
- it would lose the Bluetooth connection to the headset during a call
- I would often have to power-cycle both headset and phone in order to get Bluetooth to work again
- the keyboard would lock-up (i.e. become unresponsive for 15-30 seconds at a time)

The one good thing -

- great camera at 5 megapixels

The partial touch-screen and the navigation button were different, but not a disaster. It was more like an experiment in marketing than a cellphone.

I find it interesting that others have not had the same problem with the keypad layout that I did.

That said, Sony Ericsson haven't used the same format since, as far as I know, so I suspect it wasn't a success. The problem with so many phones is that the buttons can be very small with the standard layout, and the layout on this phone was an interesting solution.
