Hackintosh 1525

The Dell Inspiron 1525 makes a perfect hackintosh. Everything works but the ethernet, and there's some alpha drivers out there for it now. If you're looking for a Mac but don't want to stress out your wallet, this is the way to go.

I'm using one now as I write this.

the easiest way to install MAC OS for 1525 is using this site

The HDMI also doesn't work in OSX.

That's great to know. I'm going to pick one second hand for a low price this month, and was wondering about dual boot (Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10). Now I am going triple boot! :)

I agree with Hominym in that the 1525 is the perfect hackintosh! The only issues are that newer model 1525s (black keyboard/palmrest) are incompatible (unless they have a discrete card, and I don't know if you can buy one with that) with OS X, and probably never will be (Apple has transitioned to NVIDIA 9400M) and that the card reader loses the ability to read MS Pro. Otherwise, it works perfectly, and Ethernet now works (albeit with a small MAC address problem).

PS (Parenthetical statements FTW)(lol)
