The simplicity allows for versatility. This is totally a device you could load up with some audio and just give away to someone else, and not have to worry about headphones or anything else.
Do yourself a favor and get those mini-USB cables put on every computer you use (home/office/school) and you can get a charge in the middle of the day or rearrange files or double click and play the files.
It could use a faster fast-forward / rewind. If I happen to accidentally skip a podcast in the middle, I'm more inclined to just move on to the next thing and hook it up to the computer to finish it.
