I was thinking about having a gps as a gift for my mom. She is 65, never had one, does not use a cellphone or a computer. She only drives short distances that she has known for years and does not venture beyond that, partly because of the unknown. I'm thinking she now has time to go longer distances.
To start - I'm not sure this is good idea so I have two questions:
1. Does anyone have experience with novices and their reactions to a gps?
2. Can you recommend a gps that is easy to use?
I'm thinking about a dedicated device to remain in the car.

Gps as a gift for older parents? Thoughts, recommendations...
My personal preference has been with Garmin for a while but all the non-tech-saavy folks I know use TomTom. I'm uncertain if that's because its easier to use or because TT have done a better marketing job. From the little I've played with TT devices, they have nice big buttons & seem easy to use...
