There is camera from Samsung dubbed TL500 that looks almost like the S90. in fact, it's supposedly a direct competitor. I can't say that I know the pricing but I guess it's not one that is going to cost less. Sorry. I love my S90 and wouldn't go back.

The TL500 that elijah posted above does look like a possible S90 competitor for a bit less. The other competitors of the S90 are all more expensive (Leica, etc). The downside is that it will be a while before retailers get them, I don't even think reviewers have them yet.

I know the S90 hasn't dropped much from it's original list yet, but if you shop around online, maybe use the Bing cashback, you can get it down. I happened to find a great deal on a brand new unopened one on craigslist from a photographer that I got for a steal. So if you're open to that route, or getting a very slightly used one, you can save a bundle.
