G10 or G11?

Besides the purported improvement in noise reduction in the higher ISO ranges and better burst performance due to the lower megapixel sensor, and the swivel LCD (undecided if I care about that), what do you guys and gals think of the G11 for purchase rather than a G10? Maybe some sample photos would help (hurry up camera review sites!)? Maybe I can get a better price on a G10 now instead...

Noise wise anything over iso 400 on the G10 is garbage. These being pocket cameras(big pockets) you will find yourself in low light situations. I am going to sell my G10 and upgrade. Just wish the g11 had hd video. One downside to the G11 is the added thickness of the swivel screen.

G10 or G11, didn't know how hard it was going to be when I had oringally set out in getting the G10, although now with the G11 out and almost the same specs I am lost and have no idea which way to go.

i really like the screen how it folds out on the G11 but the G10 sounds like more higher end model, i'm not sure --

please suggestions --

Don't let the megapixel count fool you; the G11 performs better in low-light with less noise. If you are deciding between the two, I'd go for the G11.

ya, i was just looking at the specs of hte two side by side, and they are basically the same camera but the megapixel and the screen, and the feature in which you can move the screen about to suit your needs is really what buys it for me

So, G11 it will be!

I have the Canon A640 point and shoot & the t1i DSLR. When I'm using the t1i I'm always getting into situations where the flip screen would be extremely handy - especially taking pictures from extremely low angles.

I would get the G11 in a heartbeat.

I'd recommend the G11 due to the reasons you've already mentioned. I'd wait to see how it stacks up against other cameras like Panasonic's own LX3 since it is pretty comparable to the G10 as it stands (better low light performance, HD video) and will quite likely be a lot cheaper than the G11. Haven't investigated all the features, but I would bear in mind the price of the G9 didn't fall that much (if I recall it actually went up) after the G10's release...

I don't know about the LX3 being much cheaper than the upcoming G11. Low stock for most retailers has pushed the selling price of the LX3 way above MSRP (which is already a loft $499.99).

The G10 is still selling fairly high as well so time will tell if the G11 will push the price down further (or at all).

I'd go with the G11, although I honestly am not sure what the whole "multifunction ring" around the lens is for...(I remember reading about this somewhere)

I believe you have the S90 and G11 confused as regards to the multifunction ring. The G11 has a removable ring that allows you to add a telephoto conversion lens or a filter ring adapter. The S90 has the new fangled multifunction ring that can be set to different parameters based on users choice (and is one of the reasons I am lusting for this S90 along with the small size, my LX3 won't fit in any pocket I have!)

Ah you are correct. I stand corrected.

G11!

The difference between 10 and 14 megapixels isn't all that much of an increase and I'd take the lower pixel density / increased sensitivity over more megapixels any day.

I'd get the G11 myself. The low light performance has improved, the ISO performance has improved. Than alone makes it a better buy.

My only gripe about the is camera is the lack of HD video, although I'll probably end up picking up the s90 anyway. S90 has the same sensor, same manual controls, but is smaller and only 3.8x zoom.

Yep, my vote is for the s90... unless the hot shoe, viewfinder, and a little more zoom in the G11 are worth all that extra size and weight.
