For something that is supposed to be constantly clipped and unclipped, the Fitbit is surprisingly fragile

I've had my Fitbit for about a month and a half and I'm noticing that there are cracks developing on the hinge area. They really should use more durable materials on this. I just started using the plastic belt clip that comes with it. Hopefully it holds up.

I've been using the plastic clip since about a week after getting mine. Took less than that to determine that I was going to snap it in half if I kept removing it from my pocket to check numbers.

I both agree and disagree with this. I've had my Fitbit for about 18 months, and haven't had problems like that, but I also wish they'd gone with a different design.

I'm pretty sure they designed the fitbit the way they did so the ladyfolk could wear it "BFC." That's Bra Front and Center. I do not think that it was designed to slip onto a guy's belt without the clip. That's why they included the clip. A guy's belt clip is going to be much harsher on the Fitbit than...well...I don't want to go much further with that thought :)

That said, I wish they'd designed the Fitbit to be one slightly thinner shape, which they surely could have done if it didn't have to be the weird shape it is now. With the current shape, even with the belt clip attached it's prone to being twisted when I rub up against things like walls or something. I've gotten used to it after 18 months, but bumps happen, and if the device had a form that didn't allow motion I'd be less concerned.

As a lady, may I just say that the Fitbit doesn't really fit on the front of a bra, as the middle (for me, anyway) isn't wide enough for the Fitbit.

Good luck dude... Both my wife and I lost our fitbits, I love the device, but man, it keeps falling off, and the wrist strap for sleep analysis, gets pretty ragged too after 12 months,

You can try contacting Fitbit about this issue and maybe get it replaced. I heard that they have excellent customer service. I read stories of the Fitbit company replacing people's Fitbits after accidentally washing it with their clothes.

Yeah, this has concerned me too. I actually just throw it in my pocket now, not clipped to anything. It's basically like carrying chap stick around all the time. And like chap stick, it also has expensive consequences if you forget to take it out of your pocket before you throw it in the washing machine.

Anyway, I find the numbers to still be pretty accurate. even keeping it in my pocket.

Mine started cracking at the hinge as well and I toss it on the belt clip now. I'm pretty disappointed at the (lack of) durability of the thing.

I used to use the belt clip it came with. but now i just slid it into the little pocket on my jeans. my biggest problem with the device is that tend to forget i have it in my pocket and put it through the wash.

ive not 3 like that.
