It's large enough to accommodate my entire hand, and given its shape and proximity to the keyboard, I've already found myself just resting all my fingers on it at once (and mousing only with my index finger, naturally). Since I don't do this with the trackpad on my MacBook Pro (which is obviously smaller and positioned beneath, not next to the keyboard), I've found it much more natural to use some of the gestures I don't often use, like four-finger swipe, etc.
Still, there's no question about the fact that many tasks in desktop OSs are built around precision pointer input, and there's just nothing more precise than an actual mouse, which I already miss. We'll see how this experiment goes!
