Today was the day they were supposed to be taking preorders. No mention on their website, and the website is awfully thin on details of any kind, including content partners and supported file formats. I'm thinking Alex might be dead in the water because no publisher will want their content on something this hackable. Borders has agreed to sell these things, but like the Sony Reader, I think they have no plans for actually providing a content store. A seamless buying/browsing experience is what made Ipod and Kindle work. Without that, I think Alex is doomed.
