I have to agree with everyone here that this is my favorite form factor for the nano. I may wish I had some of the features of the new one, but I don't understand the curved screen and the "remote" shape of the 4g Nano. Since this is still functional, I'll probably not buy another one until something equally usable comes out. If I had to buy something to replace it now, my other option is buying one of the similar sized Yepps or iRivers here in Korea.
I thought this really was a fat design until my boss gave me one. Its so thin and it fits in the hand well. The wheel is almost too thin sometimes, its hard for my fat fingers to press, but you can't have the huge wheel from the iPod classic on here. Much better than all the message board led us to believe......
This is my favorite iPod as well. two things that I wish:
1) that I would, as a previous poster, would have purchased the larger storage as well
2) no that my battery lasts 1/2 as long, wish I could find a retailer that still sells them.
I know Apple had some in their refurbished marketplace a while back, but now can't find one. Anyone know where I could get a "new" or "refurbished" iPod Nano 3g?

The first Nano was absolutely FANTASTIC. It was my first iPod, so I might be having a bit of a "first crush" moment, but it was small, light, and durable as hell.
I had one of those too, however i heard had heard of sad stories where kids my age (at the time) broke them really easily. I also had one of those but I gave it to a teacher to take care of it while i played soccer and the screen stopped working after he was hit in the leg with the ball. =P I then got the 3rd gen after a year of no mp3s (and consequently, no music). The 1st gen was perfect for my small 12-year-old hands back then but if i were to use it today it would just be way too small.
I LOVE IT, although I'm not an Apple fanboy. They got it right when it comes to portable media players, and this one is just perfect. I wish I had gone with the 8 GB, but then again, I'm only listening to podcasts, which barely take up 3 GB.
Battery life is absolutely awesome. Sound is great. Buttons get a bit sensitive if the Nano has been in the sun for a few, but other than that, it just works.
