DosBox for S60 rocks. The full QWERTY and landscape screen make the E71 (and E90/E75) perfect for playing all your old favorite DOS games. You can even run Windows 95 on it (but i wouldn't sully the Nokia hardware with Windows).

s60dosbox.sourceforge.net/

Other great games system emulators for S60 3rd Edition that benefit from the full QWERTY screen (plenty of candidates to map game keys to) include:

eemame
picodrive (Sega Genesis)
vSun (SNES)
vNes (NES)
Frodo (C64)
SCUMMVM
Duke Nukem 3D
Quake (there's a version of this that works on handsets without a FPU processor like the E71. The S60 ports of Quake 2 and Quake 3 require beefier hardware then the E71 has got)
Doom
Wolfenstein 3D

All of these work like gangbusters on my Nokia E90 and should be great on the E71.

For me it would have to be RoadSync by DataViz for a WM like Exchange experience and Joiku Spot for no hassle tethering.

I've been using a gmail app through my network provider (3) and can't use labels...does your gmail app allow labels?

I use 'Three' in Australia, gmail app works perfectly.

In fact, as long as it can connect to the web, every feature in the gmail app has been fine (several different networks). Try reinstall the app.

Menu>GoTo>More Views then add the labels you want to see. Then Menu>GoTo will give you a list of the labels you added.

Does anyone know how to apply a label to a conversation?

Make sure you get the official Windows Live messenger app for Symbian devices, its awesome. Other then that if you are a twitter user too then do get Gravity(twitter client). Oh, and don't forget Google Maps(mobile), its an excellent app.

Awesome list so far. Would be great if you could post a link with the app. I'll have to try these over the weekend.

I found a guy that makes some great themes, really makes the OS look a lot nicer than the default icons which look like they were designed in the 70's. Most are free and a couple for a fee. My favourite one so far is Touch(Zen). Make sure to download the "seven" icon set and install the (E) version.

JoikuSpot, that a few have mentioned above, is a great way to connect next to any wlan-device. I use it with my Macbook - don't have to connect anything, the laptop finds the network automatically as it use to do with other networks also.

Jailbroken iPhones have a sweet commercial app called iLocalis (www.ilocalis.com) that uses the onboard GPS or A-GPS to map your location in realtime. This is a jailbreak app, so is able to run in the background.

Does anybody know of a similar app for Nokia S60 3rd Ed.phones like the E71?

I don't have a symbian phone now but there was a nice app I liked to map keyboard shortcuts to launch apps. I think it was called Cutekeys (someone correct me if I am wrong.
