Extended batteries for mobile phones

After dedicating some time to the subject and also doing work for one of the big extended batteries brands out there, I'm trying to understand where the big blogs like Engadget or CNET stand when it comes to this topic.
Personally I would not use an Android phone without an extended battery because it simply does not make sense to recharge it every 8 hours. So, 2-3 days on my Nexus S with 3900mAh battery really changed everything (hate the bulk though, but I hate low battery alert more than bulk). So, I just want to hear opinions on this topic and understand better why do big blogs ignore this topic and this type of accessories?
It's obvious that there are tons of cheap low quality batteries out there that are made of expired materials and are sold on eBay for 5$ per piece, but what about brands like Seidio or Mugen Power? I know for sure that highest quality cells are used to produce these batteries, more capacity is achieved than OEM, super-low return rate and many other positive things that come with more power, so I just want to figure out why is this topic in some sort of underground when it comes to mobile world and news?

Batteries are boring. That's it.

99% of readers do not care, and the "Big Blogs" need to cater to their reader base. Also with the multitude of phones out there, and multitude of batteries for each phone, it would be very time consuming to review batteries.

So for reviews, you will need to seek out individual phone blogs. As you said, Mugen Power does use high quality cells and makes a great Sony X10 battery (www.xperiax10.net/2010/08/02/mugen-power-xperia-x1...) and I am sure that holds for their other batteries too.

Battery life is a touchy topic with phones in the present day and I admit I would love to see more detailed tests. I currently use a BlackBerry 9790 because I can comfortably get a days use out of it (or 2 full days if i try really hard)

Mugen has plenty of reviews on individual blogs for example, and subject is than boring when journalists don't want to address it properly. Instead we watch CNET reporters review Android apps about boobs.
You have a fair point, but it's been years since battery life issue was reported and people spend tons of money on new phones and still are forced to get cheap, unreliable batteries form ebay just because this topic does not go mainstream.
But you're probably right - extended batteries add size and it's not so sleek anymore, and today most top blogs are all about beautification rather than purpose.

I don't follow CNET, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Realistically I would love to read an article about batteries for whatever phone I am using, but not the 1000 other android phones out there. Unless they have a good way to organize it, it would be a mess

I totally quote this topic. A company like Mugen has batteries for almost every model, and it saved me last Summer with an extended battery for my HTC Desire S: 2 full days without charging issues during my camping trips! I got 2 of them and my connectivity has been preserved :)

I think a good article on this topic would be definitely more useful than a list of phones passing FCC, which are absolutely not interesting for us out of the USA.

I feel that the FCC parts are relevant to Canadians (like me), because sometimes they hint at new features or releases of gadgets.

Keyword relevant. I don't find it super exciting either

I couldn't agree with you more about the importance of an extended battery!

I use my Android phone as a major business tool. Nearly ever moment of every day I am checking email, replying on twitter, checking the latest content online and replying from my phone just as I am now!

Battery life for me is crucial. And let's be honest, no matter how great the OEM battery life is claimed to be, it is just not going to cut it for my overall mobile computing needs!

I don't want to carry around both a tablet and a phone! I don't want carry around batteries that I will most likely forget to charge! I want everything in one place, on my phone, where I am connected 24/7 to a wireless network!

Only good quality extended batteries from companies like Mugen Power are prepared to offer what I NEED!

I can't thank them enough for the battery they provided me to review for the Galaxy Note. 5400mAh now lets me use the battery all day constantly for 16 or more hours (sometimes well over a day) and 9 hours of screen time!

My life on a mobile device has changed forever because of Mugen! Extended batteries are an absolute must! THERE REALLY IS NO OTHER WAY AROUND IT!!!

CHECK OUT MY MUGEN POWER 5400mAh battery for the Galaxy Note. You will see what I mean! www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FKkK0qNuOw
