Enjoy for now...

All of these Slingboxes are great devices and offer lots of functionality. I know they are integrating Sling technology into Echostar satellite boxes and they could eventually just integrate the hardware into cable boxes and cable modems to streamline the process. Very cool though. I love that every PC/Laptop screen I have is now a second or third TV in the room! Especially now that football is about to start up again!

Well if they integrate this into echostar I might just have to upgrade my DVR then, i need a new one anyway.

Have you ever played with any of the Slingboxes? I still have the original classic model and its good times... i really want to play with the HD-Pro though...

Really? I can't believe that.... The original will stream really well on a home network still and they still support all models with firmware and software updates. The away from home streaming is not amazing, but it is more than adequate. Their remote control selection and channel guide is impressive now too....

See I wasn't big into home media before may because i lived at my parents house and they had dial up and it was gimped to 24kbps if we were lucky and we couldn't get high speed. Now that i am on my own and have high speed and a desktop it is now something i want.

Eh, if a have three weeks pay wasn't going to bills i could. I get sad walking through tech departments now adays. I have money tucked away but can't touch it.

Darn you now i really want one, but just to clarify, other then the fact i can't watch any programs on my phone since its Android and they don't support it yet, i would basically be able to watch my DVR content on my computer?

Pretty much. You don't even need a TV, just your cable box.
I got the Slingplayer on my iPhone and it works great on wifi, and more or less on the AT&T 3G network depending on location.

they should come out with it for android soon if they're smart ( and they're doing good so far)

you can hang a slingbox off of its own cable tv connection or control your dvr, dvd player, whatever remotely - it has all the remote profiles and you can view it from any pc/laptop! In our cases, you can add a third tv to your living room setup!!! lol

That would actually work when i get my 42" tv and the small one goes into the room.

I am an NBA/NFL fanatic and I put up multiple games at the same time! sometimes 3 at a time! Slingbox/Locationfree make this possible.

OK, i could see that but with my setup i can watch two at once right now and be recording a third if i am watching one i might have slept through. Go Packers

I'm talking 4 live things, which is important for sports but not much else...

True, i guess i couldn't see my self watching more then two things at once, at least i can record two at once that is nice.

ya, basketball is impossible but the stop-start nature of football works for it...

Very true, not that i watch basketball but hockey is similar. That and i can watch a whole Nascar race in about 40mins if its recorded, FF through the main bit unless i see a crash, watch said crash, and then play from about the last 15 laps and watch. Hard to do with any other sport.

shame - your nuggets are gonna be pretty sweet this year (they were last year too). I'm a spurs fan over here and this may be our last year for greatness.... they certainly spent enough to go all the way this season..
