we have had some issues with our 330. it seems to take a while for it to find a GPS signal when we turn it on (2-6min typically) and sometimes "freaks out" like spins the route we are on -- once thought we were driving on the side of the road or something... It can be really frustrating.
in any event, we thought it was mostly due to the city we live in but found that it would sometimes act wonky when we were driving towards toronto. I am curious if it is the machine? tomtom products? the place we were driving?? we are thinking about just ditching this and using the forthcoming iphone tomtom service since it apparently uses cell towers as well as sat...

does your 330 do this?
My TomTom XL 330 worked like a charm for about six months and then it started doing all those things you've described. I live in North of England. It also seems that it gets particularly "confused" when driving in big cities like Edinburgh.
The workaround is to download A-GPS data before every trip, but it does frustrate me because, as I've said, I didn't need to do that when I got the device.

Having just been on a long trip (3000km+) with the 330, I can confirm what you said - I guess the "warm up" time is what I expected, but occasionally it "freaks out" as you described, but for me it only happens on backcountry routes. Sometimes it stays up to half an hour with my car riding on another road or in the middle of the fields. Inside cities though it usually works ok for me.
