Does anyone want to share their experience with this product?

Hi, I'm curious about the web interface and functionality this device has. I've been running a plug computer for always-on NAS, media streaming and torrents but this seems to do a lot of that. The only other thing that my plug has that this doesn't is major extensibility since it's a rooted linux box.

I'm curious about the plugins for this and how customizable it is. I'd also like to know how easy it is to setup and how user friendly it may be to a layman.

Thanks!

I've read that the transfer speeds are pretty slow with the Fonera 2.0 -- is this still the case? Also- Transmission for BT client? rtorrent is way better and rtgui is a web based GUI for it.

I have had horrible experience with mine. I am in the USA on Comcast. Compared to the WRT54GS the Fonera 2.0n caused YouTube and many other websites to be unusable. I even had problems connecting to twitpic.com from my iPhone and had to turn on Wi-fi on it to access twitpic. I currenlty have it disconnected and Fon's support suggested I wait until the next firmware update in about 2 weeks to see if the performance improves.

I received the Fonera 2.0n on 27th december, am using the pre-installed 2.3.0.0 firmware. My provider is KabelBW Germany, down- 32MBit/s, upstream 2,5MBit/s.

positive
Webinterface is nice made and everything is easy to access.
The configuration was also not a problem.
Connection via wire works without any hassle, as it should.

negative
Performance of SMB isnt usable, extremely slow 100-400kb/s.
The Fonera dont find my MS Webcam on USB, same problem with a Corsair USB-Stick.
Private WLAN disconnect from time to time, but public WLAN works.

I hope the next firmware release will have loads better performance, otherwise i'll be quite disappointed.

I have had the Foner 2.0n ( firmware 2.3.6.0) for 8 months now and I am very happy, I love the GUI (is really slick) I use the torrent, download manager, ftp and samba features.

As a NAS is not very fast when transferring files over WIFI (its OK over LAN), but the saving on the electrical bill is notorious.
I also have an iphone and every site I use works without problems.

To manage the torrents I suggest transmission-remote-dotnet (is like having a torrent client install on the same machine) and a site that pushes the torrents to the device, like showrss.karmorra.info

Is the best router I have had.
