Did a quick review of the DC Comics app on CNN
I've used it, it's basically the Comics by Comixology app, but only for DC comics like how Marvel's app is. The pricing is all wrong if you ask me. At $2 for non-tradable comics, it's just too expensive.
If you compare something like Batman: Hush, which they only have 6 issues of the 12 issue arc out (which makes no sense for an arc as old as Hush is) to the trade of the full 12 issue arc of $16.50, it works out to $2 digital vs $1.38 physical, where the physical you can give to someone else to read unless you want to give your iPad out to someone and the digital one you can't. Comics also have a higher value in physical form as well.
Publishers need to wake up and price books, comics and magazines properly.
But the good news is that DC is finally getting into the digital comics game and the edits for the panels, when done properly aren't bad.

There are a few ways to look at it. we as consumers still have to pay a bit for the work that they do to convert the comic but on the other hand you still stand to pay almost 24 bucks for the actual TPB (although I saw it online in a few places for the same price that you mentioned!...lol) Now a good point you brought up that I have heard argued back and forth is this...how many people actually still 'loan out' their comics? Now...looking at it from a value perspective, while physical forms are more valuable, this is what got the industry in trouble years ago and that's trying to make books 'valuable'. if you are going to go digital, still make it worth picking it up but don't make it so bad that you force people to choose. A book is only as valuable as the person who is willing to spend X amount of dollars beyond what it orignally costs. I do have a bit of an issue with day and date comics. On one hand, I would hate having to pay the same price for a digital copy and a physical copy BUT...because I also collect paper...i would be a bit pissed if I paid more for the physical that I could have if I downloaded it...unless this cost can be justified.
