Dell's new all-in-one desktop PCs... nice at the high-end but not worth it for those on a budget
Dells released this season's updated all-in-one PCs. The XPS One 27 comes with a nice set of features for the price tag (about $1400). The thing is that their Inspiron version of the all-in-ones seems a little overpriced for what it offers. For the $500 to $700 price (depending on whether or not you want a 20" or 23" display), you could get a comparable laptop. I get that they're probably for people that want a PC with a small footprint, but shouldn't desktops (even slim one) be cheaper than their portable counterparts? Is Dell off the mark here?
Not when no laptop currently exists with a 2560 by 1440 display. Or a 27" inch display with a tv tuner for that matter.
I don't feel these machines are comparable to laptops. The screen will account for a lot of the cost of the machine, and I feel the price is reasonable for what it offers. Will I buy one? No. Will it be popular? No. All in ones are still a niche market. It still is an understandable decision for Dell to try and get a hold of it though
